What is the natural unity of these three words? One might guess Independence Day, which makes sense since as Americans, we celebrate our freedom on the 4th of July with a backyard display of fireworks, proudly wearing red, white and blue in honor of our flag.
Yet for many families, these three words have a much deeper, personal meaning. For families who have experienced the loss of a fallen or disabled service member, the flag represents the heavy price of freedom and a constant reminder of a loved one who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
That’s why we support the Folds of Honor Foundation, an organization committed to honoring the sacrifice of our service members by providing educational support to children and spouses of America’s fallen and disabled.
Each service member has a family, each family has a name, and each name has a story. Major Larry Bauguess was one of the soldiers who paid the ultimate sacrifice while serving his country in 2007, leaving his wife Wesley with their two young daughters, Ryann and Ellie. The Folds of Honor Foundation honors Larry’s sacrifice by providing scholarships to Ryann and Ellie.
Ellie says, “My dad would be proud of me because I have a lot of plans to go to college and to just be successful in life and that’s what he would have wanted for me.”
When you purchase a Folds of Honor firework, Jake’s Fireworks donates $10 to the Folds of Honor Foundation. Last year with your help, we donated over 70 scholarships.
“A donation to the Folds of Honor Foundation is much more than a donation. It’s an investment into the lives and the futures of some pretty amazing kids,” says Wesley.
