History of Jake's Fireworks

In 1938, Johnny (Grandpa) and Helen (Grandma) Marietta started selling fireworks from a small stand behind their house in Pittsburg, Kansas. The Marietta’s have always loved fireworks because of the fun and the togetherness that it brings.

“The greatest job in the world is getting to shoot and sell fireworks.” – Mick Marietta

Now over four generations strong, Jake’s Fireworks has become one of the largest importers of fireworks in the world. The company is headquartered in Pittsburg, occupying a 500,000-square-foot facility and employing over 100 people. It has contributed significantly to the city's economic success.

Jacob Marietta, a family member and owner of Jake’s Fireworks, expressed gratitude for the company's success and its roots in the city. "We are honored to open our World Headquarters here in the great city of Pittsburg, Kansas, our family’s hometown," he said. "We at Jake's feel that the people of Pittsburg are a part of our company and have helped make Jake's Fireworks what it is today.”

In addition to the Pittsburg location, Jake’s now has numerous tents and retail stores that sell Jake’s and World Class Fireworks all over the US. These locations have been a critical component of success over the years. The company has partnered with organizations and entrepreneurs who share similar values like hard work, fairness, and giving back to the community, which has proven to be a successful way of doing business.

Local churches and non-profit organizations are able to fundraise by operating a tent for the week leading up to the 4th of July. Many churches currently part of the program make this their annual fundraiser for the year to fund mission trips, camps, and other charitable efforts.

For over 80 years, Jake’s Fireworks has been an American family-owned and operated business. Their success has been attributed to providing a quality product for their customers, as well as the immeasurable support of friends and family.
